Caboo isn’t eating well today
Caboo, our Akita, just had a fairly invasive surgery to remove a bladder stone. He has all sorts of stitches and is being kept inside until he heals up a bit. Today he went to work with Carolyn and stayed in the car while she taught.
He also had an antibiotic, which he took on an empty stomach last night—and evidently it threw off his appetite today. He didn’t eat his breakfast, which is highly unusual. Normally he will devour anything put before him. Once this included most of a skunk. Well…it wasn’t exactly placed before him…but I guess walking in front of him is close enough. It wasn’t a good morning when we found that.
Anyway, Carolyn left his largely untouched breakfast in the car with him—and it was still uneaten when she picked me up after my class. While I was driving home I heard a lot of shuffling from the back, as if Caboo were destroying his blanket.
“What’s he doing?” I asked.
“He’s burying his food,” Carolyn said.
“With his blanket?”
”Yes.”
Sure enough, Caboo had buried his breakfast—bowl and all—underneath the blanket. He knew he wasn’t hungry at the moment—but he knew he would want that food before too long.
