The Border Patrol conducts immigration stops near the Mexico-US border, asking drivers if they are US citizens. In response, privacy activists film the stops and post them to YouTube in protest.
So … the activists are a little silly. But more power to them. Because there’s nothing silly about what the Border Patrol is doing.
(There’s a little bonus in the video at the link. The last guy in the video is actually stopped at what I believe is a California Border Protection Station where somebody wants to inspect his RV for produce in case it’s carrying invasive species. He seems to confuse it for one of the immigration inspections. That one is, for the most part, actually a legal stop. Maybe I’m the only one who finds that part hilarious. The Border Patrol guys are pushy and obviously trying to deny people their rights. The CBPS guy is just confused.)
