Huckabee attempted this joke at an NRA event after there was a loud noise backstage. Since it’s a lazy Sunday on Tumblr, I thought I’d post and try to get some reactions. Huckabee later explained, “I made a rather awkward attempt at a joke, wasn’t all that great. I’ve apologized for it.”
I think it’s a real stretch to see anything more than a joke that fell flat in this one. Does anybody else see any malice? I can’t blame people for questioning the comment. When a joke fails so horribly, it’s sometimes hard to tell whether it was meant to be a joke or something else entirely. Mike Huckabee, if you’re reading this, your joke sucked. Nobody’s on 100% of the time. Next time try, “That was Barack Obama. He didn’t want to be seen clinging to the bannister, and he fell down the stairs.”
