A strange possibility in Indiana
All the networks have called the race for Hillary with a slim, but fairly comfortable margin for Hillary I can’t find numbers from Gary—which makes me wonder if that is the 1% of precincts that haven’t come out yet. The Gary mayor was holding the results until all absentee ballots were counted, mostly for dramatic effect. Gary, Indiana has it rough enough that it should be allowed a moment in the limelight. (You may know the city from that song in the music man where it was used as a place nobody would bother to go to check a credential. It’s been downhill since then.)
But Gary likes Barack. A lot. As in 90% or more a lot. (I asked people.) It an amazing get out the vote operations today. Canvassers knocked on every door in the city. Multiple times.
It seems possible (though unlikely) that Obama picks up enough votes to call Indiana back into question if Gary were to release results suddenly. It would look fishy because of the delay, the unprecedented turnout, and the ridiculously lopsided margins. But the delay is the mayor playing for dramatic effect. The turnout is organization. The lopsided margins? Gary really likes Barack.
