The letter I sent to the other Ann Arbor Obama supporters:
A win Indiana, which (incidentally) borders Michigan, could seal the nomination for Barack.
I spent today canvassing in Gary, Indiana. If you are at all able, I would encourage you to come down and help out however you can over the next few days. It was truly a fantastic experience. The neighborhoods I saw had a lot of Obama supporters. I would say at ninety percent supported Barack. (I expected the door to door canvassing in an unfamiliar neighborhood to be awkward—but everybody I talked to was very appreciative.) Unfortunately, this part of Gary is an area that traditionally has a low voter turn out. A few people who are willing to encourage people to vote (whether by phone banking or by going door to door) can make a real difference.
If you have a chance this weekend or on Monday or Tuesday, the Gary office needs all the volunteers it can get. (They all need all the volunteers they can get—but this office is convenient to Michigan and, as I found, has great people.)
…
But the main reason I’m encouraging people to come all the way up to Indiana is that sitting and watching returns in Ann Arbor starts to feel mechanical and disconnected. While reading headline after headline and editorial after editorial, I started to lose focus on why I initially supported Barack. A day in Indiana was good for me. We’ve got a movement going, and if you can, come see what’s going on.
