While Clinton’s been gaining on Obama over the last few days, McCain has been plummetting. I think he started rolling out specific policy proposals, which has really cast some light on how unattractive a candidate he is. For the Democrats, this bodes well for Obama. Clinton’s strongest remaining argument for the superdelegate has to do with a general election matchup against McCain in specific states. (Obama, of course, could counter that there are other states like Wisconsin and Virginia where he is much stronger against McCain). But if McCain isn’t a credible threat in the general election, this argument is moot, putting Obama that much closer to the nomination.
