If We’re Going to Have a Presidential Debate, Shouldn’t There Be More Than One Side?
As Gene Healy notes,
You could be forgiven if you don’t see the difference between the technocrat who pioneered the individual mandate in Massachusetts and the one who took it federal as one of — ahem — Biblical proportions.
Meanwhile, Johnson is “the only candidate who doesn’t want to bomb Iran. … the only candidate who wants to repeal the Patriot Act.”
So, why not let Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson — two-time governor, after all — participate?
Let’s include Green Party candidate Jill Stein, too. (FWIW, the Greens would like to repeal the Patriot Act, too. And judging by this, they’re none too keen on bombing Iran, either….)
I’ll second that. Let’s see a debate where things aren’t as scripted—and where there isn’t a functional conspiracy of silence around issues where the two main party candidates agree.
