Do you really think private business has shown a propensity toward effective management, particularly in this industry? GM, that titan of private industry, went bankrupt earlier this year. All of our investment banks failed, transformed, or were purchases. The federal government may not be an optimally efficient institution—but it’s done better than the private companies when it comes to delivering and paying for healthcare.
