If you *had* to choose one of the (major) remaining Republican candidates as the next President, who would you choose?

Paul? Romney? Santorum? Gingrich? (Assume whomever you choose wins the general.)

And why?

  1. janebahls answered: Romney, I guess. Because the other three would be an unmitigated disaster, and he might be just a mitigated one.
  2. gibber answered: Gingrich. P and S would try to break important stuff, R and G would just try to enrich themselves but R would do it on a much larger scale.
  3. slackjot answered: That’s like asking which way I’d prefer to die.
  4. loveandchunkybits answered: Romney, he seems least conservative (read: oppose gay marriage) with acceptable polices (as opposed to Paul)
  5. therealsaisai answered: Romney, because he is the only one with a governing track record I can respect, and he’s most likely to govern from the center.
  6. waronerrorism answered: Sadly, it would be Paul. Despite his bigotry he says he will end the war on terrorism and war on drugs which are devastating America.
  7. mindbabies answered: paul or romney. but then i’d probably flee to new zealand or the philippines
  8. thisisjamesj answered: Can’t I choose Canada? *sigh* I would choose Gingrich only because I believe he would hasten the fall of the Empire.
  9. azspot answered: Ron Paul, for foreign policy & domestic enforcement, because he would be blocked from carrying out his Libertarian Austrian economic schemes
  10. zigziggityzoo answered: Donors speak louder than words. Romney’s big 3 are Credit Suisse, Goldman, and Morgan Stanley. Paul’s are Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  11. biteofpythias answered: i just had a stroke.
  12. faerielandsforlorn answered: Romney, because I think he has run further right than he’ll govern. still not great, but I wouldn’t feel a desperate need to flee the country
  13. huskerred answered: I don’t get to vote until May 15th, but I’ll be voting for Paul. Civil liberties are my ‘Do Not Pass Go” issues.
  14. jasencomstock answered: Romney. If he were pro choice and a democrat I would seriously consider voting for him over Obama
  15. preachers-wife answered: Gingrich. He would at least provide interesting debates to watch. No chance of beating Obama, but I’m sick of the naivete of other candidates
  16. nickoftime answered: Smart money is on Romney.. still feel a brokered convention is in the works
